Ordering a Matching Gauge and Sender Set to Avoid Compatibility Issues
If your fuel or water level gauge isn't functioning properly but you're unsure about your sender's output signal, you can use a multimeter to measure the sender's resistance at empty and full levels. For example, if it reads 8 ohms (empty) and 184 ohms (full), your operational range is 10-180 ohms. In this case, we recommend selecting a 100TECH signal-selectable aftermarket gauge, which offers five resistance matching options:
• 240-33 ohms
• 0-190 ohms
• 240-30 ohms
• 0-180 ohms
• 10-180 ohms
Note: The included instructions make it fairly easy to set the desired resistance range.
Replacement Scenarios:
Case 1: Only the Sender is Faulty (Factory Gauge Still Operational)
Replace just the sender with a 100TECH unit matching your OEM resistance specifications (e.g., 240-33 ohms, 0-190 ohms, 0-90 ohms, etc.).
Case 2: Both Gauge & Sender Are Faulty
For guaranteed compatibility, order a matched 100TECH gauge and sender set. The sender's output is preset to 240-33 ohms, and the gauge comes default-configured to the same range, ensuring true plug-and-play operation after installation.
